Other Side is a riveting psychological tale set in the New York City metropolitan area. The themes are viewed through the experiences of Jordan Baros a young middle class African American attorney. The title Other Side is an attempt to explore the duality of personality, character and actions of people. Jordan faces his conflicts and value propositions through four relationships that are juxtaposed and contradictory. His pursuit of validation and truth is explored through his mother, wife, mistress and a sex worker. The anecdotes from each encapsulate a broad perspective of political and social issues in a multicultural society. Jordan’s journey and the women’s stories of relationship struggle and maturation provide the platform for all the characters development.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written psychological thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great psychological thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Riveting read! A contemporary cautionary tale of fiction with fascinating character development, interpersonal relationships, and scintillating temptations. The author takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride through a well written tapestry of professional ambition, corporate treachery, worldly temptations, and the discovery of the true meaning of love and family. I couldn't put it down!
This book was a well written, intelligent, interesting, and totally relatable read. (I was married to someone just like Jordan) I couldn't put it down until I was finished, and when I was finished... I wanted more! THERE HAS GOT TO BE A SEQUEL! Absolutely loved it!
Compelling story, with which - for the most part - many can identify. Well written. Excellent management and presentation of multiple themes - childhood trauma, just being Black, just being a man, what Black people call the "bourgeoisie the push and pull of marriage, the tug and shove of values, for the love of children, recovery and rehab...... Interesting. Painful. Joyful. People you think you know. Real life.
I used to be an avid reader and reading this book the Other Side has made me rekindle my decision in becoming intuitive again. The content of the book is easy to read on the eyes and the characters are commonly relatable towards a person/s who may have experienced sensitivity, compassion, a doting parent, being independent; the author has done a fantastic job conveying such imperative information creating a vivid imagination.
I am a devoted fan of audiobooks but glad I took a break and read this book. The author invited me into his space with each character, whose voice and cadence I recognized in either someone I knew or part of myself. An excellent portrayal of man's intimate reaction to a life changing event; his/her fall from grace and the courage to seek forgiveness. The author's humor, wit, and sexual escapades reminds us that we should always find something to laugh about, at least once a day! Hope their is a sequel.
What i liked the most is the realization of your inner self, and where it generates from. Demonstrated real life situations that most people can truly identify with. A realization of human behavior thats generated by unresolved trapped childhood emotions. I simply loved reading this book, and await for the next one. Thank You,
Your wisdom tapped on every aspect of what could and would happen if we don't come to ourselves mentally and emotionally and to appreciate what we have, instead of what we feel were lacking.
What first struck me when reading this book was the author's attention to detail. When it came to settings and character appearance, thoughts and feelings, his description was phenomenal. So it wasn't hard to "see" the places and people and feel each character's innermost fears and desires. The author's eloquent use of words were exceptional and so such expressions as "the pleasant bouquet of her perfume" or "like an alto sax in a small cafe we blended with the harmony of the moment", have been cemented in my mind.
The story itself was about real people and real ups and downs that can affect a person and by extension, those around him/her. I love a positive ending. The main character was able to recognize and admit that he had a problem. I think his wife, in the end, summed it up when she said, "Maybe your problem is deeper than you think; your addiction isn't just drugs." So, to me, his problem wasn't so much the drugs or infidelity, but rather in using those things to fill a subconscious need/void, more negativity was created in his life. In the end, he was willing and ready to "do whatever it takes" to overcome his problem and rebuild his family and ultimately regain personal stability.
A total must read psychological and self reflecting/ analyzing story that leads the reader to ponder on his/her own life and life choices.
